You have found what you are looking for! Now what?
There is no doubt that musicians and filmmakers have been lucky enough to be blessed with a special gift– that artistic ability that turns them into masters at their craft, whether it is by creating that song for the next hit CD or weaving a wonderful story for that next successful movie on DVD.
However, in order to produce a truly overall professional product of the highest quality, the technical side must be viewed as a final and critical step in the overall making of that CD or DVD, in essence, the finishing touch that will make it perfect.
Therefore, deciding which company you will entrust with your cherished CD or DVD for duplication, replication, audio mastering, DVD authoring or any other type of optical disc media manufacturing, is one of the most important decisions you can make. So, it makes sense to go with a company that has worked extensively with both the film and music industry, assisting these major record label companies and movie studios by producing, on their behalf, the highest quality DVD and CD products on the market. www.abetdisc.com is the answer.

If you have a DVD master but no menu.
We can author a new DVD master with menus, in the context of our Deluxe DVD authoring package.
If you have a DVD master and you like to edit or add video.
We can author a new DVD master form the video or from multiple DVD sources, in the context of our Platinum DVD authoring package.
Region codes and Countries included in region
Region codes exist for the benefit of the owner or distributor of a DVD title, and they protect the rights of a distributor in one region from encroachment by a distributor from another region. Region codes are very simple in concept. A DVD can be set to be playable in single and/or multiple regions during the authoring stage. DVD players sold in a particular region will only accept DVDs authorized for that region.
NOTE: We can author a region free DVD. Contact your Consultant for more info 1-866-574-0275.

Difference between the NTSC and PAL Video standard
Video that is intended for viewing on a television, whether on a tape, a DVD, or delivered via satellite or cable, needs to meet the standards of the country in which it will be viewed. In North America, that is NTSC , ( National Television System Committee ). NTSC video is 29.97 frames per second or fps, at a size of 720×486. The NTSC standard is also used in other countries including Japan, South Korea, and most of Central and South America. You will notice that does not include Europe, China, Australia, and most other Asian countries. These areas use another standard known as PAL ( Phase Alternation Line ). PAL video is 25 fps, at a size of 768×576. Based on the NTSC system, it was modified to avoid color distortion. Broadcast started in 1967. Just for good measure lets mention SECAM , ( Sequential Couleur Avec Memoire ), developed in France. Broadcast started in 1967 and used by France and many former French colonies

Best format or formats for your project
We have prepared the following information to help you judge the best format or formats for your project.
Computer playback – Fortunately, any computer that can playback a DVD- video will be able to use both NTSC and PAL.
Most PAL DVD players will read NTSC discs – there are two parts to this equation: the DVD player and the TV. Nearly all PAL DVD players will read NTSC DVDs, and output some interpretation of the signal to the TV. Most, but not all modern PAL televisions can display this signal, but you will not achieve 100% perfect playback for all your viewers. A common complaint is the loss of color information resulting in black and white playback. PAL and SECAM are nearly identical – in areas concerning DVD we will treat SECAM as PAL.
NTSC DVD players will not read PAL discs – with the exception of a few specialty players, North American NTSC DVD players do not play PAL discs, period. If you are planning on importing a European video program to the US, plan on a complete rebuild of the project, staring with the video source.
A PAL DVD cannot be directly converted to NTSC – It is important to understand that it is not the physical DVD that is in one format or another, it is the underlying video content. As described above, the differences between NTSC and PAL video are in the image size and the frame rate. To create the NTSC, one has to start with an NTSC video source and the menu assets for the DVD, and then re-author the project from the ground up. This often means taking the original PAL video (tape) master and have a professional standards conversion done.
A web link
We can add web links, email links and links to files that are included on your DVD when we are authoring a Deluxe DVD package (these links will only be active when the DVD is viewed on a computer). The user may need to install a small software program prior to the first use of these links, which we include on any web-enabled DVD master that we author.
The difference between a DVD- 5, 9 and 10
- DVD-5: Capacity 4.7GB, video minutes 133, sides 1, layers 1.
- DVD-9: Capacity 8.5GB, video minutes 240, sides 1, layers 2.
- DVD-10: Capacity 9.4GB, video minutes 266, sides 2, layers 2.
DVD Masteres
DVD+or-R for DVD-5 is standerd and DVD+R DL for DVD-9
Yes, we are accepting Dual Layer (DL) DVD+R masters. We advise you to use great care in preparing your master and be sure your authoring software fully supports burning to Dual Layer recordable media.
DVD Audio
DVDs support several configurations of audio, including mono, stereo and “surround”. Mono or stereo audio may be uncompressed PCM (equivalent to CD audio) or Dolby Digital a format for audio data compression also known as AC-3. Multi-channel or surround audio is supported via Dolby Digital in several configurations, most commonly 5.1.
NOTE: We can accept WAV or AIFF files for authoring DVDs with surround audio.
Contact your Consultant for a custom quote if your authoring project will include surround audio 1-866-574-0275.
MPEG-2 is an alternative compression format for audio, which may include multiple channels like Dolby Digital. However, MPEG-2 is not included in the specifications for NTSC DVD players, though some players in fact do support the format. But the format is considered “out-of-spec” for North America, so we have to reject any DVD master which uses this as the primary audio format.
NOTE: Prior to authoring your DVD project, check the default parameters for your encoding or authoring software to disable MPEG-2 audio.

What is DVD Encoding?
When you buy a DVD at the store, you are guaranteed it will work on your DVD player at home because of the DVD encoding. DVD encoding is a technique used to allow movie studios to control the release in regions. DVD encoding has been confused with a region code that is used for certain parts of the world, with the United States having a code of 1 for all new releases. The average DVD player requires that certain players be sold in certain markets so that your DVDs sold in that market will work on said DVD player. There are however some DVD players that will play multiple regions, and these are called region free players. Unless you have a region free player, DVDs from other parts of the world will not play on your player. DVD encoding is the act of compressing the information in a movie including sounds, so that they will fit on a standard DVD.
As it stands, neither VCR tapes nor digital video files are ready to be used as is for authoring. Video is generally too large to actually fit on a DVD in its natural state and format, so it is compressed to become small enough to fit on a disc. DVD encoding and compression is done with hardware or separate software encoding. DVD encoding is done by an encoding card that is placed in a computer or a DVD recorder. Using the software, the settings you want can be selected and can also affect the quality of the encoding. The professionals at our company are experienced in this field and can help guide you to the highest encoding quality for your DVD project using software or hardware encoding. It is important to remember that the master video quality will affect the final DVD quality, so the master you send us should be of a high quality and uncompressed.
If your master is not in an acceptable format, don’t worry; we can convert it as needed for an additional charge. The only thing we require in order to complete your project is a master disc and your decision on hardware or software based encoding preference.

What is DVD Authoring?
DVD authoring is a process where DVD information is placed on a disc that is then capable of playing on a DVD player. DVD authoring takes specific programming to complete, because there are certain specifications that are required by the DVD forum group that are extremely complex. DVD authoring is generally used only for DVD authoring of video DVDs and not the audio DVDs.
Our company offers many DVD authoring packages to suit all of your video needs. There is no need to buy expensive programs or using a few different companies to complete your DVD. We make DVD authoring a quick and simple process for you, as we also offer encoding or menu design as well.
What we do is take your video or film and add any other content you wish, and then blend it all together into a professional quality DVD. Our options make each project fully customizable so that no matter what your needs we are able to meet them. We also offer replication services, so if you have any DVD that you want to have copies of, simply contact us for more information. Our packages offers you an array of different designs or options so that your DVD will be exactly as you foresee and specify it to be. With so many options, there is no reason to go to another company.
Our DVD authoring packages range in services, but all will include the DVD encoding process, 1 DVD menu design and 1 sub menu design, a play all feature as well as up to 10 chapter points listed or 6 motion video thumbnails. We do offer extras or bonuses such as behind the scenes options, more chapters, 5.1 surround sound and even slide shows for an additional cost or even motion menus up to 30 seconds in length on your main menu.

What is a DVD Menu Design?
When you place a DVD into a player, the first thing that you will normally see is a menu. Our professionals take into account the needs of your project to help you decide on the DVD menu design. Many DVD menu designs include the Play, Play All, Subtitles, Sound Options, Extras and many other options on the main menu. Each of these sub menus would not be present without DVD menu design. There are a few general templates that are used in DVD authoring software, and these can include sound and motion from the footage included, but generally are limited as to what options you can use. Custom DVD menu design allows you to choose what you want the menu to look like, colors, and options and sub menus.
The DVD menu design you choose will be completed by one of our professionals that is knowledgeable in the areas of video, DVD authoring and graphic design, so that your finished project will work as you wish and will also have a professional appearance. Before the authoring is complete, we will even send you a PDF file through your email so that you can look at it beforehand and approve or disprove it. You can design your own menu using some of our options, or you can choose from readymade templates that will create a professional appearance for your project. Designing your own menus gives you the choice of adding options or taking away options from the menu or sub menus on your DVD project, but we still have guidelines that are in place for your project. This simply means that there must be a menu, and there are certain aspects of the menu that cannot be taken away, but can be altered to suit your needs.
We offer a wide array of packages for DVD authoring that includes DVD menu designs, and you are in charge of your project. DVD menu designs are available for your perusal, and if you see a menu on another disc you like, let us know. We are more than willing to work with your design and help you create the DVD you envision.

Stochastic printing vs. Conventional offset Printing
Stochastic printing vs. Conventional offset Printing
Computer-To-Plate technology utilizing a different technique for printing halftones known as Frequency Modulation (FM) screening, or stochastic printing. Conventional offset screening, or Amplitude Modulation is certainly better, especially when higher line screens of 175 to 200 are used in halftone and four color CMYK process printing.
The best way to define stochastic printing is to compare it to conventional offset printing.
In conventional offset printing, images are printed using grid-like screens that separate the image into evenly space dots that are larger in size in the darker areas and smaller in size in the light areas. In four color process printing, separate screens are used to reproduce each of the four colors, black, cyan, magenta and yellow.
In stochastic printing, images are printed by dots spread randomly throughout the image area. The dots are not equally spaced and aligned in a row or grid and they vary according to the tonal value to be reproduced. The lighter areas have few dots, the darker areas have more dots.
Printing with stochastic screening offers the advantages of less ink on the sheet, can reproduce too much detail; grain of image’s photographic film can become visible, imperfection in flesh tones are more visible, holding a small dot is a great challenge on press, very unforgiving on press, tighter controls have to be implemented, 20% more dot gain than conventional, proofing is difficult.
Conventional offset screens have the advantages of greater latitude of changing color density on press, more forgiving halftone reproduction, better printing of large amounts of ink on paper and better production of one and two color printing. Metallic or opaque ink halftones have larger impact and works better for skin tones.
